Operations Management focuses on effective planning of resources and activities in production and service companies and networks of companies from the strategic level to the control level. Particular attention is paid to quantitative methods, the use of information technology, and manufacturing philosophies such as Lean and Complexity Management. The Operations Management group covers a broad spectrum of industrial sectors. There is much focus on process industries, including the pharmaceutical industry and the food industry, because of the great importance of these companies in Denmark. Within the service sector there is a particular focus on healthcare.

The core research areas of Operations Management include:

  • Supply Chain Management
  • Customization, modularization and product configuration systems, i.e. how to produce customized products in an effective way
  • Design of production systems
  • Production and Planning Control
